October 2022 UPDATE
We returned to full service provision in September 2022.
The story so far:
We commenced a phased return to service provision on June 14th 2021. On July 5th 2021 we increased to a five day service, and in line with Government guidelines, increased capacity from three to four people per day.
On Monday 24th January 2022 we resumed external outings to tearooms etc.
On March 5th 2022, we resumed a six-day service by re-opening on a Saturday.
We lifted remaining restrictions, including social distancing within our centre, at the end of May 2022.
This allowed us to increase the daily capacity from 4 to 6 people, on a phased basis from July 2022.
This was wholly dependent on us being confident that we can provide support safely with minimal social distancing.
We then consulted with everyone affected by any changes we make and informed the Care Inspectorate of our intentions.
As of August 2022, we continue to increase numbers, but with numerous local cases of COVID still evident, we remain cautious.
We continue to deep clean and mist our centre regularly and staff still tested twice weekly until asymptomatic testing ended in September 2022.
Full service resumed by mid September 2022.
We are delighted to have launched a new website for our services. Our new website is fully responsive to work an all devices and will help make it easier for users to find information relating to all parts of what we do.
The site is built and hosted for free by Beatha Design as part of their commitment to support local charities and community organisations across central Scotland.
As a not for profit charity, we rely heavily on public and business donations to be able to carry out the vital work we do. Fundraising events are vital to us and we are looking for individuals, groups and businesses who would like to oirganise events to fundraise for us.
In the past we have had people organise a charity car wash, comedy nights, sponsored walks and half marathons, sponsored silences and much more. What ever you decide to do, your help will always be appreciated.
If you are planning on taking part in the Kilt Walk, why not do it to raise funds for East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group.
A wonderful thank you to the fantastic Holly, Tammin, Ellie, Cara, Lily & Aimee who are Second year students at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School, who won £3,000 for EK Dementia Carers Group by winning the Youth Philanthropy Initiative with an amazing presentation about our charity. Watch their presentation on the video above.
