MEMORY CAFE 2016
We have teamed up with Alzheimer Scotland, NHS Community Mental Health Team to bring you East Kilbride's first Memory Cafe.
The Memory Cafe meets on the Second Wednesday of every month, from 1pm till 3pm in the Bruce Hotel.

8 areas of performance in total were inspected,
gaining six grades of 6 and two grades of 5.

Staffing... 5 and 6 = Graded 5

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Due to recent expansion of our care provision we are looking to recruit enthusiastic volunteers to join our team.

We are now able to provide two additional volunteer placements, and are currently looking to recruit two enthusiastic and caring volunteers who are willing to assist in our daycare centre on alternate Sundays, from 9am till 4pm.

Following Home Fire Risk Awareness training from Scottish Fire and Rescue, we can also make a referral on your behalf. If you want a visit arranged for someone who attends our centre but worry about them being alone, we will provide a staff member free of charge to accompany the Fire Safety Officer on a "partnership visit" so they have a friendly face to reasure them.

INDEPENDENT EVALUATION
Having secured an Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery, we were able to commission an independent evaluation of our service and a feasibility study into how we can move forward. This work has now been completed.

At The East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group, We believe that people with dementia and their carers have the right to be treated according to human rights based principles set out in the Charter of Rights for People with Dementia and their Carers, regardless of where they are, and in every part of their daily lives.

This charter aims to empower people with dementia, those who support them and the community as a whole, to ensure their rights are recognised and respected.

We have adopted the Charter of Rights for People with Dementia and their Carers in Scotland as a core policy.

The Charter of Rights will be distributed to all Service Users, Carers, Staff and Volunteers, and will be promoted at every opportunity.
